TEAM CAPTURE

The phrase ‘team player’ is very important in today’s workplace - to the majority of companies it is an essential skill required by its staff and for most of us it is a phrase which appears too readily on CV’s.  One company who see teamwork as more than just words is Aberdeen based Capture Imaging.

Capture Imaging provide and service multi-functional products for copying, scanning, printing, faxing and Document Management Software.  The company was founded in October 2005 by Colin Yule and Robbie Cheyne in order to provide the North East of Scotland with a local, personal service in the field of document management.  The company is now 6 months old and has increased its staff numbers to include - Scott Simpson who was appointed as Operations Manager in December 2005 and the firm recently expanded further with the appointment of Raymond Watt as Account Executive.  The company is celebrating after being awarded the title of ‘Top New Dealer’ from Konica Minolta.  Capture has also reached the finals of the Grampian Business Awards 2006 and is on track to turn over £1 million in its first year.

Directors Colin Yule and Robbie Cheyne met whilst playing football for Scotland’s

Youth Team and their friendship and business plans developed throughout their football career.  While they no longer play, they have undertaken coaching positions with Inverurie Loco Works under-21 and Banks of Dee and are still keen supporters of the game.

Robbie explained: “The key elements of a successful football team have been integrated into Capture in the form of training, strategy development and communication. Based on our experience of playing for and bringing on winning teams, we are confident that we will become the leading provider of digital document management solutions for the North East.”

Capture operates in an industry that is predominantly based in the Central Belt and Robbie believes their competitive advantage stems from the desire to build and develop a local team of local people.

“Team Spirit and Teamwork is the ability to work towards a common vision to attain uncommon results and by working together everyone achieves more.  It can be difficult to find a workplace that genuinely promotes collaborative working - the reality is that many individuals naturally look out for themselves rather than the team.

“Football is a game of strategy and passion - you have to think on your feet, work together and focus on goals.  Too many players, when they are looking for a pass, are focused only on what is directly in front of them.  For the team to be successful each player must expand their peripheral vision to see beyond their own interests and focus on what is best for the team.  People who work together will win, whether it is against complex football defenses or in the workplace.”

The Directors aim to expand further and hope to have their very own first team of 11 players by the end of 2006.
